Frequently Asked Questions: Your Orthodontic Queries Answered!

  • WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT YOUR PROVIDER?

Dr. Silvert holds dual specialties in orthodontics and oral medicine. Formerly a professor of orthodontics at the University of Illinois, Dr. Silvert served as the head of the undergraduate orthodontics program for nine years.

During his more than 30 years of practice in Northwest Indiana, Dr. Silvert has treated over 11,000 patients.

He has especially enjoyed his close work with the wonderful doctors at Shriners Children’s Hospital bringing smiles to children with the most severe dental-skeletal problems.

Dr. Silvert is deeply honored by the trust these gifted doctors have placed in his orthodontic management of these uniquely challenging patients.

  • WHAT MAKES YOUR PRACTICE UNIQUE?

    Dr. Silvert's office is a one-doctor practice providing a start-to-finish, one-on-one personal experience.

Our practice is not only patient-friendly but parent-friendly as well. We provide additional seating adjacent to each treatment chair for those parents who want to observe and be informed of treatment each visit.

If you prefer a few minutes to yourself, our waiting room offers a fireplace with comfy chairs, television, assorted magazines, and yes, a coffee bar featuring Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts products to give you a lift on your busy day.

We also have a spot especially designed for the younger siblings of our patients to enjoy a book or video.

  • CONSULTATIONS

Our consultations are complimentary! In addition, should a patient be ‘not quite ready’ to begin treatment, we do not charge for our ‘recall’ visits prior to beginning orthodontics. We offer extended payment plans with no finance charges and in many cases, these payment plans can be adjusted to your personal budget. Currently, we offer a 20% discount to our patients with no orthodontic insurance. Veterans, first responders and teachers also receive a 20% reduction to their out-of-pocket cost as our sincere thank you for their service!

  • WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?

Dr. Silvert provides orthodontics (braces) for both children and adults.

Phase One orthodontic treatment is a guiding treatment for children having both baby and adult teeth present.

Phase One may include space maintainers, rapid palatal expanders, removable appliances and/or fixed orthodontic appliances.

Phase Two orthodontic treatment is used for children and adult patients having both late mixed dentition (adult and baby teeth) or only adult teeth.

Dr. Silvert collaborates closely with several oral and plastic surgeons to offer combined orthodontic and surgical jaw correction (orthognathic treatment) for the severest of skeletal-dental problems, including cleft palate.

  • WHAT INSURANCE PLANS DO YOU ACCEPT?

Although Dr. Silvert accepts all insurance plans, simply accepting insurance may not necessarily provide the best benefit for your specific treatment.

Whereas most orthodontists agree to accept your insurance benefit, whatever it might be, Dr. Silvert has pre-contacted with all major insurance companies to reduce his treatment fees as an 'in-network" provider.

This means you are getting the lowest possible treatment price. By using an in-network, preferred provider for your care, you get to keep more money in your pocket. Contact our office staff directly, and we will be happy to assist you.

  • WHAT IS THE COST OF BRACES?

Orthodontic braces at our office cost less than you may think!

Dr. Silvert carefully strategizes his treatment plan for each patient to make the most of their individual growth and development.

Because every case is unique, price quotes can be made only following our complimentary consultation.

  • EMERGENCIES

If a patient experiences an orthodontic emergency, our practice has a 24-hour, 7 day a week orthodontic assistant on call. If necessary, Dr. Silvert himself will be contacted following evaluation by the staff. If the situation appears to be a medical emergency, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room.
